HISTORY

Chapmans Ltd is an established manufacturer of wear resistant components and general purpose hard facings who are proud to be based in the Steel City of Sheffield.

Our heritage, however, dates back much longer than this.  Our factory building is steeped in history, the foundation stone having being laid on March 15th 1945 by Lady Riverdale of the well known local family of industrialists.

The company as we know it today came into being by acquisitions and mergers of several famous agricultural concerns.  We are located at Club Mill Road, the traditional home of Hattersley and Ridge, but have also integrated the Henry Rhodes and Tyzack Sons and Turner businesses, who in turn had bought the Parkins and Spaffords names.  In more recent times we have acquired Richland Engineering and – significantly – the flexible chain harrow division of PJ Parmiter.  Our facilities are therefore no longer solely geared to the production of components and sub assemblies, but increasingly to the manufacture of completely finished machines.
