Art is everywhere
Sheffield – home of Chapmans and a couple of football teams – is one of the largest cities in Yorkshire: an impressive, historic, culturally rich region comprising four counties, eight cities, more greenery and agricultural land than one can contemplate, and perhaps slightly surprisingly, an internationally renowned art scene.
Castleford gave Henry Moore to the world, Barbara Hepworth was born in Wakefield, Damien Hirst grew up in Leeds, and Bradford is the 2025 UK City of Culture, thanks in part to its artistic son, David Hockney being born there.
As part of Bradford’s City of Culture status this year, the Turner Prize will be awarded there (at Cartwright Hall) next week, with the four shortlisted entries on display right now.
Sheffield is home to no fewer than six galleries and museums under the “Sheffield Museums” banner, in addition to private collections, and also offers almost countless opportunities for singing and performing arts.
Here at Chapmans our craftsmanship is our art. We design, sculpt and manufacture a huge range of parts – in many different colours – which in turn are used to cultivate the land as depicted in so many Hockney paintings.
In the North, South, East and West
Yorkshire offers all the best
In manufacturing, agriculture and art
Football, swimming, or throwing a dart
With great towns and cities, awesome countryside too
Whatever you like, there’s something for you
Our farmland may be lacking a vulture
But it will always inspire our art and our culture
