The Opportunity

We are looking for a talented and proactive Business Systems Developer to join our team. This is a pivotal role responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting the core software applications and data structures that keep our business moving.

From optimising SQL databases to deploying Raspberry Pi automation tools on the shop floor, you will work at the heart of our operations, collaborating with Finance, Sales, Production, and Logistics to build smarter, more efficient ways of working.

Key Responsibilities

Your role will be diverse, blending software engineering with data analysis and hardware integration:

  • Database & Reporting: Design and maintain complex SQL structures (tables, stored procedures, triggers) and deliver insights via SSRS and SSIS.
  • Software Development: Build and deploy robust applications and backend services using the .NET framework (C#, VB), JavaScript, and IIS.
  • System Integration: Create and manage APIs to ensure our various business systems “talk” to one another seamlessly.
  • Operational Automation: Get hands-on with hardware by configuring Raspberry Pi devices for real-time data capture and monitoring.
  • Data Integrity: Lead data transformation (ETL) processes, ensuring high standards of data quality and security across the organisation.

Essential Criteria:

  • Technical Foundation: A degree or HND in Computer Science (or equivalent experience) with a commitment to ongoing technical learning.
  • Development Stack: Proven experience in SQL Server (SSMS) and .NET technologies.
  • Backend Expertise: Experience building APIs and managing system-to-system integrations.
  • Analytical Mindset: The ability to perform deep-dive data analysis and translate complex business needs into functional technical solutions.
  • Collaboration: Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues in Warehouse, Finance, and Production environments.

Desirable Extras:

  • Experience with version control (Git).
  • Knowledge of IoT/automation in a manufacturing or distribution setting.

Why Apply?

This is an excellent opportunity for an internal/external candidate to take ownership of our technical ecosystem. You will have the autonomy to propose proactive improvements and the chance to work with a wide variety of technologies, from high-level software to edge-computing hardware.
