Penistone Agricultural Show ( https://penistoneshow.com ) will take place on Saturday 13 September!
Chapmans’ representatives attend a lot of shows and outdoor events, but other events are held every year which are – from a business point of view – more relevant to farmers, growers and artisans.
Just 14 miles from Chapmans is the historic market town of Penistone, where an annual agricultural show has been held since 1854. Nowadays held on the second Saturday in September, the show is one of the largest one-day events of its kind in the country, attracting over 12,000 people every year.
The Show is organised entirely by volunteers, many of whom have dedicated many years to making the event so successful.
So, what can visitors expect to find at Penistone Show? Of course there are hundreds of farm animals; accompanied by farmers from across the region and further afield. You might even come across some people and animals you recognise from the TV!
Show-jumping, dog shows, machinery demos and vintage cars are highlights too, with other sections such as horticulture and home/handicrafts allowing local people to enter their wares into the show, from those who crochet cushion covers to bakers making flapjack and cakes, there really is something for everyone.
The Show always has room for hundreds of trade and food stands, selling everything from cars to walking sticks, from doughnuts to samosas. There will be music and entertainment, cookery demos and giant tortoises to look at (yes, really!). Let’s hope the sun shines to keep them and all visitors warm!
